Straw Bale Gardening>Hosted by Ooltewah Farmers Market and Ooltewah Nursery & Landscape Co., Inc.> Straw Bale Gardening is rapidly becoming popular and you may have already heard of it. What is Straw Bale Gardening? It’s simply a different type of container gardening. The main difference is that the container is actually the straw bale itself, held together with two or three strings, the outside crust of the bale serves as the container. Once the straw inside the bale begins to decompose, the straw becomes “conditioned” and ready to plant, creating an extraordinarily productive, warm, moist and nutrient-rich rooting environment for your plants. This is an excellent way to grow if you have limited space, poor soil, or want to save your back from bending over so much. It’s also a Great money saver, too! At this event you will learn the techniques to growing in straw bales, and we will demonstrate how to do it. We will have on hand everything you need to grow a successful straw bale garden. There is no charge to attend. Your RSVP below is not required to attend, but it would help us to plan better for materials. Everyone who attends will receive a free full-color booklet and a coupon to help you get started. Bring a pen for notes and a friend.> 1:00 pm
