The server is down, nothing is working, and everyone is freaking out. Moss sits on one shoulder, “Log on to the server and find out what’s wrong.” and Roy sits on the other, “Have you tried turning it off and on again?”. Embracing the dark side (because reasons) you restart the server and life returns to normal. A week passes, code gets shipped, the server is happy, and everything feels good. Saturday evening, it happens again. You restart the server. If this sound familiar, you could be the victim of Memory Bloat. Memory Bloat is Memory Leak’s more popular sibling that no one knows about. Come to this talk and we’ll learn how to identify memory bloat, write some bloat inducing code, and fix everything. Embrace your inner Moss. Stop restarting your server. Start building lean applications that do exactly what they need to, and not a bit more.
